Eleanor “Ellie” Cartwright (1936-2025)

Eleanor Cartwright, longtime Hobart resident and matriarch of the Cartwright family, passed away peacefully Monday at the age of 89.

A beloved Sunday school teacher, Ellie was known for her apple butter, her faithful attendance at bingo nights, and her unwavering belief that “everything happens for a reason, even if you don’t like the reason.”

Services were held at Hobart First Methodist, where three stray dogs joined the procession behind the hearse. The family requests donations be made to the Hobart Food Pantry.
