Possum Fest 2025
Possum Fest is back, bigger and stranger than ever. Thanksgiving Weekend 2025, Uptown Hobart will once again transform into a celebration of marsupials, music, and municipal pride. Residents and visitors alike are invited to enjoy live entertainment, food vendors, competitive events, and the traditional midnight “Possum Parade” down Court Street.
Event Highlights
- Possum Parade – A midnight procession of floats, costumes, and questionable lighting choices.
- Possum Calling Contest – Participants compete for volume, accuracy, and enthusiasm.
- Possum Queen Pageant – Open to contestants of all ages, judged on costume, poise, and possum knowledge.
- Possum Crawl – A crawl of Hobart’s famed bar district, but with sweet tea and gas station coffee.
- Possum Drop – A New Year’s Eve-style lowering of a giant fiberglass possum from the water tower, followed by fireworks and unexplained sirens.
Food & Vendors
- Possum-on-a-Stick (actually chicken, probably)
- Funnel cakes shaped like a possum
- Hobart Garden Club’s “Midnight Salad”
- Kettle Creek Dairy’s limited edition “Possum Tracks” ice cream
- Chugweiser tent, proudly flat
